Step 1 : Initial Consultation
Patients at PLCSC have the liberty to choose from either the FUT or FUE processes. You can either opt for a single sitting or multiple sessions which is completely dependent on the area that needs to be “filled” as part of the surgery. However, you are always explained pros and cons of both the methods.
During the first session in FUT or FUE, the anterior hairline is established, the face framed and the bald area from the anterior position to the vertex is wrapped. Utmost care is taken to cover the frontal area of the scalp. The crown is worked on only if the recipient has more blood supply than the donor’s site. Even the number of follicles necessary to cover the bald area during the first session varies.
Step 2 : Medication & Preparation for Surgery
- Anti-hypertensive medication continued till day of surgery (if patient is hyper sensitive)
- Any topical therapy to be discontinued three days before the procedure Bleeding agents like Aspirin, Vitamin B or alcohol to be discontinued before surgery
- Discontinue smoking 7 days prior.
Step 3 : Surgery
Seven vital steps we practice to carry out successful transplantation of hair.
Local anaesthesia mixed with adrenaline is infiltrated to the donor area.
A strip of tissue is extracted which is closed with fine sutures.
The tissue strips are sliced into thinner strips isolating the follicular units (slivering).
Nerves that supply blood to the recipient site is blocked before infiltrating it with a solution to prevent swelling.
The recipient area is slit with an 18-gauge needle to achieve the required density.
The area is lapped with methylene blue solution to make the slits prominent.
Finally, the follicles are individually implanted after washing in the solution.
Step 4 : Post Surgery Care
After the surgery is completed the transplanted hair slowly falls off within 2 to 6 weeks. New hair will start reappearing in the treated area within 10 weeks and move upwards for the next 6 months.
Initially, you might feel your hair density is thin but its length and diameter increases with time. The final results are assessed 10-12 months after the surgery after which you can plan for the additional sessions.

- Large bald area
- The extra density required for crown area
- Hair loss resumption of native hair after first transplantation session
- The result from the first session was unsatisfactory
